BLKNWS (Black News) is een innovatieve filminstallatie van de Los Angeles-kunstenaar en filmmaker Kahlil Joseph.

BLKNWS was in 2019 voor het eerst te zien tijdens de Biënnale van Venetië. Doordat het beeldmateriaal constant wordt bijgewerkt, doet het werk denken aan een nieuwskanaal. In BLKNWS combineert Joseph actuele en historische beelden over Zwarte cultuur. Zo onderzoekt hij de manier waarop Zwarte levens worden waargenomen en weergegeven in media en kunst.

Over de kunstenaar

Kahlil Joseph (1981, Seattle) is een Amerikaanse kunstenaar en filmmaker uit Los Angeles die vooral bekend staat om zijn baanbrekende videoclips voor musici als Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, FKA twigs en Beyoncé. Sinds 2015 staat hij ook bekend om zijn grootschalige video-installaties, op het grensvlak van cinema, beeldende kunst, mode en muziek.
