Ontdek vanaf 14 februari in Kunstmuseum Den Haag iconische naoorlogse schilderkunst. Met iconen als Bacon, Hockney en Rego. Én onbekende schilders.

Voor het eerst in Nederland worden hoogtepunten van de naoorlogse Britse schilderkunst in een overzicht getoond – schilderijen van onder meer Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, David Hockney en Paula Rego. Londen is wat hen bindt, net als een gedeelde toepassing van verf: doeken met lijven, blikken, binnenkamers – de uitdrukking van een tijdsbeeld. De menselijke figuur wordt door deze schilders gevierd en tot het uiterste gedreven.
