brAInpower – what does AI mean to you?
Until 31 December
Exhibition
There's much blogging, talking and fantasizing about Artificial Intelligence (AI). But what exactly is it? And what can it mean for us? What has been Philips' contribution to its origin story? The Philips Museum presents brAInpower, an exhibition about AI.
brAInpower
Through hands-on interactive exhibits, special collection pieces and videos, the exhibition explores the impact of AI on our daily lives and in healthcare; based on history and contemporary developments in society, in Brainport and within Philips.
Philips
Philips' history with AI goes back to the development of the electron tube. This tube emerged from the light bulb and was a step towards developing the transistor and microchips. These innovations were crucial for current computing power and data storage, thus forming part of the AI evolution. At the same time, Philips innovated extensively in digital medical imaging. This way, Philips often leads in applying AI to improve healthcare.
Experiencing AI in the museum
The collaboration between human and AI is central to the exhibition: the brain qualities of humans combined with AI: Brain + AI = Power. This leads to innovations on many fronts.
In the brAInpower exhibition, there's much to learn and experience. Visitors can create a personal artwork based on their emotions and with AI's help. Or regenerate their own ideas with images and discover the difference between an MRI scan with and without artificial intelligence.
Origin story
Remarkably enough, you'll also encounter talking founders Gerard and Anton Philips. They see the parallel between the rise of electricity in their time and the rise of Artificial Intelligence now. An extensive timeline tells the origin story of AI, highlighting Philips' role in important developments as well.
